2025 Theme: Let Them/Let Me

My 2025 theme is “Let Them/Let Me,” inspired by the book The Let Them Theory, by Mel Robbins, which I’ve only partially read. Even though I have most of the book to go, I’ve read enough to know that this is exactly what I want to focus on in 2025 (and probably forever). Simply put, I need to let others do as they will without feeling like I have to FIX their feelings or problems or circumstances because they make me feel uncomfortable. I can be kind and listen and lend comfort, but I don’t have to do the heavy emotional lifting to try to change what’s outside of my control.

On the flip side, I DO need to/want to LET ME [fill in the blank]. The specifics still have to be fleshed out as I’ve only just planted the seed of this theme. But I’ll keep it warm, supply it with water and fertilizer, and see what sprouts.

So far, a handful of “Let Me” seedlings have appeared:

  • Let me FINALLY declutter the dining room so that it’s not so whack-a-doodle looking.
  • Let me purge and organize the alleged craft room so that I can actually…you know…craft!
  • Let me start filling out the forms in the Nokbox.
  • Let me write more. More journaling, more letters, more notes and cards, and more blog posts.
  • AND let me draw, sketch, color, and play with markers, stickers, colored pencils, crayons, photos, washi tape in those journals. Let me have fun making my own (childlike) art.

Let me see where this goes!

  1. Love the sound of fhis book and your ‘let me…’ seedlings. I’ve started the year reading ‘The Big Leap’ but think I’ll follow it with this one (although one ‘let me’ I could start with is to finish more of the books I start/buy!). Happy New Year! 🥳

  2. I, too, have been thinking about adding Mel’s book to my list of reads. What I’ve heard about it reminds me of 2 things I read in Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations: “Place your own well-being in your own hands. It’s quite possible to be a good man without anyone realizing it”; “It’s silly to try to escape other people’s faults. They are inescapable. Just try to escape your own.”

Anyway…I LOVE the glimpses into your journals and your sketches. I wish I had a sketching ability!
